Robin Lee Essays - Software, Social Networking Services,

Robin Lee Ms. Kayla Murphy English 9 Aug 26, 2015 Alibaba Investment Puts Snapchat Valuation in Stratosphere Snapchat has gone a long way from where it first begun. It got a lot of attention by teenage and young adult market. O ffering a different kind of app and using advertisements to rake in revenues have proven profitable. P eople always like something new. O ffering a new or unique app gave people something new in social media. A lthough the market share Snapchat got was only of the teens and young adults, it was still able to provide services/content that kept more and more people downloading and using the app. Snapchat ' s new features are quite interesting. First they extended the time posting of photos from seconds to 24 hours. I f photos are meant to disappear , isn ' t allowing a post for a long time giving people to copy the photos. Isn't this defeating its main function? I t seems like as it innovates, it becomes more like a social media site like instagram than a unique app as how it first started. I fear that if Snapchat continues to add features like these, it might lose its original identity. I t might be good for them to add other interesting feature like getting people more involved in the app like photo voting every 10mins and photos voted could have more " life " in the app or something like that. A nd there could even be rewards to the most voted photos. A s for trying to get a bigger market share, like couples, maybe it would be nice if there could be a feature to pa ir apps, like 2 accounts are synced. I f one posts, the other will automatically see the posted photos. T his is a good way of removing trust issues and getting couples or the older adults to like the app.
